About Boris Tadić
A child of a philosopher, Boris Tadic became a pro-western Serbian politician who went on to become the third president of Serbia.
Early Life
Born in the People's Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, his father was a philosopher and his mother was a psychologist. Boris attended the University of Belgrade Faculty of Philosophy where he graduated with a degree in social psychology. He was politically active while in school, protesting the implementation of the 1981 martial law in Poland.
Presidency
Boris was elected President in 2004, defeating his opponent Tomislav Nikolić (who became president in 2012) by 53%. As president, he opened the People's Office where citizens could communicate freely with the president. He attended the 10th anniversary of the Bosnian massacre where he apologized for Serbia’s role in it.
This politician was re-elected in 2008 for another four-year term. Boris helped Serbia secure NATO membership as president. He left office in April 2012, losing re-election to Tomislav Nikolić.
Personal Life
Boris tied the knot with Tatjana Rodić in 1997 and they have two daughters together. However, the couple separated in 2019.
