About Brandon Teena
Brandon Teena’s life and death became a subject of interest following its adaptation into the biopic film, “Boys Don’t Cry”. He lived as a transgender man starting from adolescence. He was first raped and then murdered, alongside Lisa Lambert and Phillip DeVine, a few days later by two ex-convicts whom he had been acquainted with following his relocation to Falls City, Richardson County, Nebraska.
Family Life
Brandon and his sister, Tammy were brought up by their mother, JoyAnn Brandon. JoyAnn refused to accept Teena’s transgender status and always referred to him as her daughter. He dated Lana Tisdale, a friend of Lisa Lambert, whose house he was lodging in Falls City.
Rape and Murder
After his December 19, 1993 arrest for check forgery was published in a local newspaper, his ex-convict acquaintances Tom Nissen and John Lotter found out that he was born female. He was gang-raped by them on Christmas Eve and threatened to not report the incident to the police. They killed him along with Lambert and DeVine on December 31, 1993, after finding out he had reported the rape incident to the police.

He had his elementary school education at St. Mary's Elementary School and progressed to Pius X High School.
