She is an American television personality who is a musician, an actress, activist and author.
Personal Life
Calpernia Sarrah Addams was ambitious as a young child and did her best to dabble in every field she wanted to be in. She was in a relationship with a soldier named Barry Winchell. However, when their relationship became public, the soldiers Winchell was working with mocked him and eventually killed him because Calpernia was transgender.
The story spread all over the country and even out of the country especially during the trial. It became obvious, at the time, that soldiers who had different sexual orientations were not well protected during their service.
Career
She started a production company in 2002 named Deep Stealth Productions together with Andrea James. She featured in the show “Transamerican Love Story” which aired in 2008. She also made an appearance during the tenth anniversary of the production of “The Vagina Monologues” and performed with several top celebrities including Alicia Keys and Salma Hayek. She is known to have worked on the book “A Life Shaped by God, Gender, and Force of Will”.
Trivia
The story of Calpernia and Barry Winchell was put together in the movie “Soldier’s Girl”. Her name Calpernia was derived from the play Julius Caesar as Calpurnia was the name of Julius Caesar’s wife.
