Carlos the Jackal (Ilich Ramírez Sánchez) is a Venezuelan terrorist and murderer. He is serving a life sentence in France for the murder of an informant for the French government and 2 French agents in 1975. He was also convicted for attacks in France that killed 11 people, thus he was sentenced to a second life term.
He is regarded as one of the most dangerous terrorists of all time.

He has been married 3 times.
During his 1997 trial, he stated: "When one wages war for 30 years, there is a lot of blood spilled—mine and others. We never killed anyone for money, but for a cause—the liberation of Palestine".
