About Edmund Husserl
Edmund Husserl was a German philosopher and mathematician. He is best known as the founder of the philosophical field of study of experience and consciousness structures, termed “phenomenology”.
He was a professor of philosophy at the University of Gottingen from 1901 to 1916 and then at the University of Freiburg from 1916 until 1928.
He is also credited with the formulation of philosophical concepts such as phenomenological reduction, noema, formal ontology, lifeworld and theory of moments.
Family Life
He was raised in a Jewish family. He was married to Malvine Steinschneider, with whom he had a daughter and two sons. His son Gerhart became a legal scholar and philosopher.
Death
He died on April 27, 1938 in Freiburg, Germany. He was 79 years old.
