She is also known for being the founder of the nonprofit charitable organization the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights whose goal is to bring into reality Robert Kennedy's dream of promoting human rights in order to bring about fairness and peace in the world.
Family Life
Her parents were George Skakel and Ann Brannack. She was married to Robert Francis Kennedy from 1950 until his assassination in 1968. The marriage produced eleven children.
Awards
In 2014, US President Barack Obama honored her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest honor a civilian in the United States can receive.
