About Gavrilo Princip
Gavrilo Princip was a Serb assassin.
His Legacy
He became famous for assassinating Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg, in 1914 in Sarajevo. He was associated with the Young Bosnis movement, which consisted of Serbs, Bosniaks and Croats. In his trial, he stated: "I am a Yugoslav nationalist, aiming for the unification of all Yugoslavs and I do not care what form of state, but it must be freed from Austria". His action led to Austria-Hungary's invasion of Serbia, which led to World War I.
His Personal Life
He tried to commit suicide twice, but he failed. He died of Tuberculosis at the age of 23.
