About Gene Upshaw
Gene Upshaw is the first player in the history of the National Football League to play for one team in three Super Bowls in three separate decades. Regarded as one of the greatest guards to feature in the league, Upshaw played for the Oakland Raiders where he won two Super Bowls. He was also six times Pro Bowl winner.
Family
He was married to Jimmye Hill with whom he had a child named Eugene III. His younger brother Marvin Upshaw is also known to be an NFL player
Education
The former football star completed Robstown High School and continued at Texas A&M University–Kingsville (formerly Texas A&I University).
Recognitions
In 1987, he became a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Upshaw was also named to the First-team of the All-Pro three times. The Sporting News included him in their 1999 list of “100 Greatest Football Players”.
Trivia
During his time with the National Football League Players' Association, he served as the executive director.
