Family and Education
The politician was the son of Giovenale Giolitti; and unluckily for him, he lost his father a year after he was born. He was exposed to an early education by the help of his mother. By the time he was 16, he had received admission into the University of Turin where he studied law.
His involvement with Rosa Sobrero began in 1869 and their marriage spawned 7 children.
Career Highlight
His political career started in 1882 when he was elected as a member of the Chamber of Duties. He then held our seats in government until in 1892 when he first became the Prime Minister of Italy.
Giovanni Giolitti was best known as the official who served as the prime minister of Italy for five times. His first tenure of office started in 1892 and it ended a year later. His first tenure of office was not a good experience to write home about, but as time went by he was able to contribute to the growth of Italy.
As the prime minister, one of his notable policies was the law he introduced purposely for women and children to protect them in terms of their working time.
He also joined political parties such as the Historical Left, Liberal Union and the Italian Liberal Party.
After his tenure of office ended as the fifth prime minister in 1921, he continued to remain as a member of parliament.
Giolitti was considered as one of the best prime ministers to have governed Italy.
