Career
In the 2005–2006 Continental Cup season, he made his professional debut at the age of fifteen. At the Junior World Championships in Kranj, Slovenia, in February 2006, he took home the gold medal. On his 17th birthday, he triumphed in the fourth competition in Bischofshofen, Austria.
Gregor Schlierenzauer made his World Cup debut on March 12, 2006, placing 24th at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival. He won his maiden World Cup at Lillehammer, Norway, the youngest jumper ever to do so at Lillehammer in 2006.
