About Gustavo Kuerten
Brazilian retired tennis player Gustavo Kuerten won 28 major titles during his career which lasted for thirteen years. He made his professional debut in 1995 and went on to star in all the four Grand Slam tournaments.
He started attracting attention in 1997 when he won his first of three French Open titles. Later that year, he was ranked among the top ten tennis players in the world. In 2000, he won the Tennis Masters Cup beating America’s Andre Agassi.
Aside from his successes as a lone player, the Brazilian also excelled as a team member. His promising career was marred by a series of injuries which caused him to retire in 2008.

With Mariana Soncini, he fathers two children named Maria and Luis.
Other Achievements
In 2000, he was ranked at the summit of the ATP rankings, becoming the first tennis star from South America to close the year at the top of the chart. Twelve years later, he was selected into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
