About Hironobu Sakaguchi
Hironobu Sakaguchi abandoned his dream of becoming a musician to study computer programming. In 1986, he joined Square Enix (then known as Square) as a full-time worker. He gained international fame the following year after creating the first edition of the “Final Fantasy” franchise.
The Japanese game developer resigned from the company in 2003 and the following year, he established his own studio called Mistwalker. With this organization, he has produced many video games including “Terra Battle” and “Blue Dragon”.
Family
According to him, his mother Aki Sakaguchi inspired most of his works. He has been married to a lady called Eiko Sakaguchi.
Education
He had his training at Yokohama National University.
Awards
In 2000, the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences honored him with their Hall of Fame Award. He also received the Lifetime Achievement prize at the 2015 edition of the Game Developers Choice Awards. Two years later, he won the Special Award at the CEDEC Awards.
Trivia
As a film director, he made his debut with “Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within” which was released in 2001.
