About Jay Silverheels
Jay Silverheels was an actor and athlete, best known for playing Tonto in the ABC western drama television series "The Lone Ranger." He was born into a poor indigenous American household and grew up in poverty before being found and invited to undergo a film test by renowned actor Joe E. Brown.
He worked as a stuntman and acted in a number of films, but it was his performance as Tonto that made him famous.
