About Jessica Savitch
Jessica Beth Savitch was a well-known American television reporter and correspondent who became the first female presenter to conduct evening news broadcasts in the Southern United States during the 1970s.
She became widely recognized for presenting the NBC Nightly News and providing NBC News' daily updates.
Savitch also anchored an investigative documentary show on the American TV series 'Frontline' dubbed 'PBS's Public Affairs, which ran from the early 1980s until her untimely demise.
She was known for her charisma in front of the camera and her proficiency to deliver the news to the viewers.
Family
She was born to Florence Savitch and David Savitch. She grew up together with a sister called Lori Savitch. She was married to Mel Korn, a marketing executive, which lasted for a few months after he found out about her drug addiction. She married her second husband Dr.Donald Payne who suffered from depression and later committed suicide.
