About Jochen Rindt
Following a successful career in both the Formula Two and Formula Junior competitions, Jochen Rindt made his debut in the highly-rated Formula One championship in 1964. He recorded his first success in the competition four years later driving in the Lotus 72 car.
Prior to his maiden F1 success, the German-born driver, who competed with an Austrian license, won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1965. His promising career was cut short in 1970 after he was involved in an accident during a practice session.
Family
Both his parents read law and were killed during the Second World War. He spent his early years with his grandparents. He married Finnish model Nina Lincoln in 1967. They were blessed with a daughter named Natasha.
Decorations
He won the F1 World Drivers' Championship in 1970, becoming the first driver in the history of the competition to receive the award after his death.
Trivia
During his career, he worked for some popular teams like Rob Walker and Cooper.
He participated in over sixty Grands Prix in which he recorded thirteen podium finishes.
