About Julian Huxley
Sir Julian Sorell Huxley was a biologist famous for the modern development of embryology, synthesis, and the study of behavioural evolution.
Early Life and Education
Huxley was born to Leonard and Julia Huxley. For his college education, he enrolled in the Balliol College in Oxford in 1905 to study Zoology. He also had a few spells in the army from 1917 to 1919, where he rose to Second Lieutenant during WWI.
Career
The biologist rose to become a leading figure in the proof of modern synthesis in the 20th century. Huxley was also the Zoological Society of London's secretary from 1935 to 1942 and was also one of the World Wildlife Fund's founding members from 1959 to 1962. He also became the first Director-General of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) from 1946 to 1948.
Personal Life and Death
Huxley married Julian Huxley in 1919. He died in 1975, aged 87. He was survived by 2 children.

Did you know?
