Karen Black was a Golden Globe Award-winning American actress, who in a career spanning over half a century, appeared in almost two hundred films. Some of her most memorable film characters include Rayette Dipesto in 1970's Five Easy Pieces, Myrtle Wilson in 1974's The Great Gastby, Faye Greener in 1975's The Day of the Locust and Mother Firefly in 2003's House of 1000 Corpses. Besides acting, she was also an accomplished songwriter, singer and screenwriter.
Family Life
She was the daughter of writer Elsie Mary and businessman Norma Ziegler. She had two siblings, including actress Gail Brown. She was married four times and had three children, including actor Hunter Carson. Her final marriage was to filmmaker Stephen Eckelberry in 1987. The marriage lasted until her death in 2013.
