About Karl Wolf
On his 2007 album “Bite the Bullet”, Lebanese-Canadian singer Karl Wolf’s remake of Toto’s hit song “Africa” was well received in Canada and beyond. Aside from that album, the singer is also known for albums such as “Face Behind the Face”, which was his debut album.
Personal Life
He was born as Carl Abou Samah in Lebanon but moved to Toronto. He got his nickname Karl Wolf from his high school basketball team. He was born into a family of music.
Education and Career
At Montreal’s Concordia University, he studied film studies. His music career started around 2001, when he began co-producing and writing songs. In that same year, he sang backup for a popular Quebec-based band called Dubmatique.
By 2006, the singer had released his first album, titled “Face Behind the Face”. The album received positive reviews and entered the music charts in Canada.
He has collaborated with quite a number of musicians mostly from Canada. Some of those musicians include Choclair, who was featured on his song “Desensitize“. The rapper and reggae singer Culture was featured on Wolf’s hit song “Africa” from the album “Bite the Bullet”.

He co-wrote two songs from Gabrielle Destroismaisons.
Wolf received a Felix Award and a L’ADISQ Award.
In 2004, his song “Je vais changer le monde” was acclaimed as the “Best Popular Song” by the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN).
He won the “Best Arabia Act” at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards in 2008.
In 2010, his single “Africa” won “Anglophone Song of the Year” at SOCAN.
