The two-time English Young Player of the Year, Lauren Hemp is a forward in the Women's Super League (WSL). The England international has plied her trade for a number of clubs, including Bristol City and Manchester City. She signed for the latter in 2018.
Background
Lauren Hemp grew up in Norfolk, England. Her interest in football began early in her life. She started playing for a local club North Walsham Youth FC, where she honed her skills and became a tenacious forward.
Professional Career
Hemp played for Norwich City Women from 2008 to 2015. Then, she joined Bristol City where she played for three years before leaving for Manchester City in 2018.
The English sportswoman has played in the various levels of the English national team. She was captain of the English team at the 2017 UEFA Women's Under-17 Championship. She also played in the 2018 under-20 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and was named among the UEFA Women's Euro 2022 English squad.
Notable Accomplishments
She has won the PFA Women's Young Player of the Year four times [2018, 2019, 2020, and 2022]. She was also acclaimed Vauxhall England Young Player of the Year in 2017.
The English forward has scored some significant goals, goals which have sometimes been pivotal in winning matches as well as championships.
In the summer of 2022, she helped her England secure its first UEFA Women’s Euro title. She was heavily involved in the final that saw England defeat Germany 2-1 in front of a record-breaking attendance of over 87,000 spectators.
