1935 Academy Award winner Lloyd Corrigan was an American actor who doubled as a screenwriter and director. He was known to appear in popular movies such as, "Captive Wild Woman" in 1943 and "The Big Clock" in 1948.
Early Life
The actor was born to James Corrigan and Lillian Elliott. He went on to study drama at the University of California and graduated in 1922.
Career as an Actor
Corrigan's career began in 1925 when he made his professional debut playing Kelly in the movie, "The Splendid Crime" which was directed by William C. DeMille. He also appeared in James V. Kern's "Stallion Road" movie where he played the role of Ben Otis in 1947.
Corrigan also starred alongside Lew Ayres and Robert Hutton in the American Western film, "New Mexico" in 1951. He also acted in other popular movies such as, "Paris Follies of 1956" in 1955, "The Manchurian Candidate" in 1962, and "Lassie: A Christmas Tail" in 1963.
Career as a Director
Corrigan stepped out of the limelight and rather chose to create and direct his magical moments. He directed several popular movies such as, "No One Man" in 1932 which starred the likes of Carole Lombard and Paul Lukas. Corrigan also directed "By Your Leave" in 1934 and "Dancing Pirate" in 1936.
