Louis IX of France was barely a teenager when he ascended the throne to become the King of France. Due to his young age, his mum ruled for some time until he was considered mature for the position. It was during his reigns that France reached its political and economic peak.
He would be remembered for leading the Seventh and Eight crusades which were mainly targeted at Muslim dynasties.

He was born to Blanche of Castile and Louis VIII. He’s the senior brother of Charles I of Sicily. He married Margaret of Provence in 1234. His children include Philip III, King of France; Peter I, Count of Alençon; and Margaret, Duchess of Brabant.

He’s the first king of France to be canonized.
