About Matt Dawson
Matt Dawson began his career as a professional rugby player in 1991 when he joined Northampton in his native country, England. He spent 13 years with the team and helped them to win the Heineken Cup in 2000. He also helped them to three Anglo-Welsh Cup finals before leaving to join the London Wasps.
At the end of his first season with the Wasps, he won the Zurich Premiership. He featured for them for two years before retiring in 2006.
International career
Dawson had a very successful career with the English rugby team. He was named into the England Sevens squad in 1993 and helped them to win the Sevens World Cup. Two years later, he played his first match for England.
Mostly used as a scrum-half, the Birkenhead-born rugby star helped his country to win the Rugby World Cup in 2003. He also made a number of appearances for the British & Irish Lions team.
Other works
He has appeared on many television shows after ending his playing career. He’s best known for his time on the quiz show “A Question of Sport”. Other shows that he has appeared on include “Celebrity MasterChef” and “Strictly Come Dancing”.
He has also worked with some media organizations either as a presenter or a commentator. He’s best known for his time with BBC Radio Five Live.
Private Life
Until 2020, he was married to Carolin Hauskeller, a German model. They had two kids before their separation.
