About Melissa Manchester
Melissa Manchester started attracting attention in 1971 when she joined Bette Midler’s back-up band known as Harlettes. Two years later, she came out with an album dubbed “Home to Myself”. Since then, the celebrated American singer has released over 15 albums and loads of singles.
Her 1975 album entitled “Melissa” peaked at number 12 on the famous Billboard Albums chart. She was also applauded for her seventh album dubbed “Don't Cry Out Loud”.
Other projects
Manchester is also a popular figure in the film industry. The award-winning entertainer is best known for portraying the Maddy Russo character in the TV series entitled “Blossom”. Other films that she has appeared in include 2010’s “Dirty Girl” and “For the Boys” which was released in 1991.
Family
Her mother Ruth Manchester owned a self-named clothing line. In 1982, she became the wife of Kevin De Remer.
Education
The singer attended Manhattan School of Music. She continued her training at High School of Performing Arts.
Awards
She won the “Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” prize at the 1982 Grammy Award. Manchester has also been recognized on the Bronx Walk of Fame. Her other awards include the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences’ Governor's Award.

She was featured on the National Lampoon’s 1972 album dubbed “Radio Dinner”.
