About Michael Pollan
Michael Pollan is an American journalist who has gained fame for his numerous bestselling books. Throughout his career, Pollan has published over ten books that mostly explain the social and cultural importance of food.
In 1991, he released his first book titled “Second Nature: A Gardener's Education”. His 2001 book “The Botany of Desire” was adapted into a two-hour documentary of the same name which premiered on the PBS television network. “The Omnivore's Dilemma”, a book he published in 2005, was named one of the best books that year by The New York Times.
Family
He was born to Stephen and Corky Pollan who were both writers. He’s the brother of American actress Tracy Pollan. He has been married to Judith Belzer since 1987.
Education
After ending his education at Bennington College, he moved to Columbia University where he obtained his master’s degree.
Recognitions
The Boston Museum of Science honored him with their Washburn Award in 2015. Aside from that, he has also received many laurels such as the James Beard Foundation Awards, and the Reuters World Conservation Union Global Awards.
Trivia
He has also worked with the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism as a Knight Professor.
