About Mordechai Vanunu
Mordechai Vanunu has been described by many international organizations as a hero for disclosing Israel's nuclear program in 1986. After revealing the country’s plan, the former Israeli nuclear technician was labelled a traitor in his native country.
He was later arrested by Mossad, an Israeli security agency, and sentenced to 18 years which he served until 2004. Since his release, he has served some time in jail for allegedly violating the terms of his parole.
Family
He spent his early years with his parents Mazal and Shlomo alongside ten siblings. He has been married to Kristin Joachimsen since 2015.
Recognition
He received the Right Livelihood Award in 1987.
Trivia
He joined the Israel Defense Forces in 1971.
Five years later, he was employed by the Negev Nuclear Research Center.
