Myles Garrett is an American football player who has sported on behalf of Texas A&M collegiately and the Cleveland Browns of the NFL professionally. Specializing in the defensive end position, he was good enough in college to actually be selected with the first overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
Family Life
His sister Brea Garrett, who also attended Texas A&M, proved to be an outstanding collegiate track-and-field athlete.
He has an elder half-brother by the name of Sean Williams who formerly played in the NBA.
Achievements
Garrett won a plethora of awards during his college career, including being named First Team All-American twice, in 2015 and 2016.
Also in 2015 he took home the Bill Willis Trophy, which is given to the top-college defensive lineman in the entire country.
In becoming the first pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, he also became the highest-drafted athlete from Texas A&M into the NFL in the school’s history.
Upon being drafted by Cleveland, the Browns immediately signed him to a fully-guaranteed contract worth over $50 million.
In 2018 he made the NFL Pro Bowl and was ranked by his peers as the 49th best player in the league.
Trivia
During his first game in the NFL, which was on 8 October 2017, he sacked quarterback Josh McCown twice.
He writes poetry in his free time and has expressed an interest in writing children’s books.
