About Napoleon III of France
Napoleon III, a descendant of Napoléon Bonaparte (Napoleon I), became France’s first President in 1848. After his four years term, he seized power through a Coup d'état in 1851 and became the country’s Emperor.
In view of that, he created the Second French Empire which lasted for 18 years. The fall of the empire marked the end of the monarch's rule in the country. Under his leadership as an Emperor, the country underwent massive infrastructure transformation, especially in the transportation and agriculture sectors. He oversaw the construction of the famous Suez Canal.
After he was overthrown, he, together with his family, fled to England and lived there until his death in 1873.
Family
His original name was Charles-Louis Napoleon Bonaparte. He was one of the children of Louis Bonaparte, Napoleon I’s junior brother. Hortense de Beauharnais, his mother, had other two children named Napoléon-Louis Bonaparte, and Napoléon Charles Bonaparte.
He had one child with Eugénie de Montijo called Napoléon, Prince Imperial.

His character has been portrayed in many films such as “The Story of Louis Pasteur” and “A Dispatch from Reuter's”.
