About Niall Ferguson
Niall Ferguson has gained repute as an influential historian, public intellectual, commentator and documentarian. In 2016, he was employed as a senior research fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, an appointment for which he stepped down from his job as a Harvard University professor. He also taught at the London School of Economics and New York University. His fields of expertise include American and British imperial history, international history and economic and financial history.
Family Life
He was raised as an atheist by his physics teacher mother, Molly Archibald Hamilton and his doctor father, James Campbell Ferguson. He has three children with journalist Sue Douglas, whom he was married to from 1994 to 2011. He married former Dutch MP Ayaan Hirsi Ali in the same year.
Achievements
He received the Wadsworth Prize for Business History for his books on the Rothschild family.
Trivia
He wrote and presented the documentary, “The Ascent of Money”.
