About Nicéphore Niépce
A pioneer in the history of photography, Nicéphore Niépce has received credit as the inventor of photography. The French inventor was the developer of heliography, a photographic process. He is also known to have created “View from the Window at Le Gras”, the world’s oldest surviving photograph of a real-world scene, with a primitive camera. He was a co-inventor of the world’s first internal combustion engine, the Pyreolophore.
Family Life
He was the son of a wealthy lawyer. He co-invented the Pyreolophore with his elder brother, Claude. He had another brother named Bernard and a sister.
Death
He died on July 5, 1833 from a stroke.
