Gordon and Post worked together, writing songs and playing guitar in the band during the 1990s.
Veruca Salt signed on to Minty Fresh Records after a short time of playing small shows and live gigs and recorded songs with Brad Wood as producer.
Gordon wrote the song “Seether” and the band released an orange 7” for it. The song “Seether” sounded pop- like and so they sent it to radio where it performed well. It became a knockout on college and other stations. It also peaked at number 8 on the Modern Rock charts and became popular on MTV.
An EP titled “Blow It Out Your Ass It’s Veruca Salt” produced by Steve Albini was released by the band in 1996. The EP consists of Gordon’s written “Shimmer Like a Girl” and “New York Mining Disaster in 1996”. The band released a second album “Eight Arms to Hold You” in February 1997 on Geffen Records. Shapiro parted with the band after the album was recorded and Stacy Jones, an American musician, took his place as the drummer of the band.
Gordon and Post commenced work on their third album; however, disagreements between the two intensified and Gordon quit the band in early 1998.
