About Oswald Spengler
Oswald Spengler was a famous German philosopher whose theories about history were mostly influenced by art, mathematics and science. He predicted that Western culture would enter into a 200 year period of Caesarism before its collapse in 2000.
In 1918, he published the first volume of his most popular work which was titled “The Decline of the West” and the second part came in 1922. Aside from that, he published other successful books with some labelled “Die Revolution ist nicht zu Ende” and “The Hour of Decision (Jahre der Entscheidung)”.
Family
He was raised by his parents Pauline Grantzow and Bernhard Spengler alongside three sisters named Hildegard, Adele and Gertrud.
Education
The renowned philosopher studied at the University of Halle, the University of Munich and the University of Berlin.
Death
He died from a severe heart attack in 1936.
Trivia
Three years before his death, he was selected as a senator of the highly-rated German Academy.
He influenced the likes of Samuel P. Huntington and Arnold J. Toynbee.
