About Patrick Troughton
Patrick George Troughton received training in stage acting and appeared in many theatre productions but he became a household name through his on-screen roles.
He is remembered best for his performance as the Second Doctor in the BBC sci-fi television series “Doctor Who” from 1966 to 1969 and the in limited appearances in 1972/73, 1983 and 1985.
He also had roles in horror films such as “The Phantom of the Opera”, “The Black Torment” and “Scars of Dracula”.
Family Life
The actor was born to Dorothy Offord and Alec Troughton. He grew up with a brother and a sister. He had three children with his first wife, Margaret Dunlop, whom he abandoned in 1955.
He had three more children with his girlfriend, Ethel Nuens. He later married Shelagh Holdup.
Death
He died on 28 March 1987, three days after turning 67 from a heart attack.
