About Peggy Lee
Peggy Lee was the professional alias of Norma Deloris Egstrom, an American singer, songwriter, composer and actress.
She became a household name through her writings, compositions and recordings of music (for films as well). Her well-known songs include “Why Don’t You Do Right?” and “Somebody Else Is Taking My Place”.
She starred in the films “Pete Kelly’s Blues” and “The Jazz Singer”. Besides voicing characters in the animated film, “The Lady and the Tramp”, she also contributed to the original soundtracks.
Family Life
She was the daughter of a Norwegian-American woman named Selma Anderson and a Swedish-American man, Marvin Egstrom. She was a four-time divorcee. Her ex-husbands included guitarist Dave Barbour (the father of her only child, Nicki) and actor Dewey Martin.
Achievements
She received one Grammy Award out of 13 nominations and was honored with the scheme’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” in 1995.
Death
She died on 21 January 2002 from diabetes complications.
