Peter Saili is a professional New Zealand rugby player. He has played as a Blindside flanker for most of his career, enjoying stints in various French and New Zealand teams.
Background & Early Career
He is the brother of fellow rugby star Francis Saili. He is an alumnus of St Peter’s College, where he excelled in the school’s rugby team. He also represented New Zealand in various underage and schoolboy tournaments.
Club Career
He began playing professional rugby in 2008 for Auckland in the National Provincial Championship (NPC). He also began playing for the Blues in 2009. Between 2008 and 2015, he achieved 70 caps and 20 points for Auckland and amassed 71 caps and 20 points for the Blues from 2009 to 2015.
The Blues released him in 2015, and he later signed with Union Bordeaux Begles in France. After two years in Bordeaux, he moved to Pau in 2017 and played for them for the next two years. He then joined Valence Romans Drôme Rugby in 2019.
International Career Highlights
He was part of New Zealand’s under-19 and under-20 teams that won the 2007 and 2008 junior world championships conducted by the International Rugby Board.
