About Princess Muna al-Hussein
Princess Muna al-Hussein, has gained global recognition for being the mother of Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, who was made King of Jordan in 1999. Before getting married to King Hussein in 1961, she worked as a secretary.
She has also received lots of applause for her humanitarian works and her role in developing nursing practice in Jordan. She was the brain behind the establishment of the Princess Muna College of Nursing and Allied Health Professions in 1962.
Family
She is English and was originally known as Toni Avril Gardiner. Her father Walter Percy "Tony" Gardiner was a military officer. Her mum’s name is Doris Elizabeth Sutton. Her marriage to King Hussein ended in 1972, and aside from King Abdullah II, they had three other children. They are Prince Faisal bin Hussein, Princess Aisha bint Hussein, and Princess Zein bint Hussein.
Education
She studied at Bourne School in Malaysia.
Accolades
The former Queen has received many local and international honors. Some of her decorations are the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Order of Beneficence (Greek Royal Family) and Knight Grand Cordon with Collar of the Order of al-Hussein bin Ali (Jordan).
