About Raghuram Rajan
Raghuram Rajan is a highly-rated Indian economist who served as the Governor of the country’s central bank between 2013 and 2016. During his tenure, he was very particular about financial security and encouraged the indigenes to patronize local banks. Prior to taking over that position, he worked for the government of India as an economic advisor.
He gained international recognition after he was appointed the Director of Research of IMF in 2003. He worked with the organization for three years, where he also served as their Chief Economist. In 2015, he joined the Bank for International Settlements as its Vice-Chairman.
Family
His father, R Govindarajan worked with the Intelligence Bureau. Radhika Puri, his wife, works as a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School. The couple are blessed with two kids.
Education
He underwent his training at some top institutions which include the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
Achievements
He has been a recipient of many prominent awards such as the Fischer Black Prize, Yashwantrao Chavan National Award, and Deutsche Bank Prize in Financial Economics.

He was interviewed in the 2010 documentary titled “Inside Job” which would later win an Academy Award.
