Rita Moreno is a Puerto Rican-American actress and singer whose film credits include This Rebel Breed, West Side Story, The Ritz, and Slums of Beverly Hills. In 1962, she became the second Puerto Rican to win an Oscar.
Personal Life
Prior to her 1965 marriage to her manager Leonard Gordon, she had romantic relationships with celebrities such as actor Marlon Brando, Elvis Presley and Kenneth Tynan. She and Gordon had a daughter together and remained married until his death in 2010.
Achievements
In 1961, she won both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for her role in the film West Side Story. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the National Medal of Arts from President George W. Bush and President Obama respectively.
