About Robert Bresson
Robert Bresson was considered as one of the pioneers of the minimalism movement in the film industry. Many connoisseurs have described this renowned film director as one of the best in history. He began his works in 1934 with a short film titled “Public Affairs (Les affaires publiques)”.
He went on to work on many famous films which included “Pickpocket” and “A Man Escaped”. Most of his works were named in the “250 greatest films ever made” polls organized by Sight & Sound in 2012.

His parents were Léon Bresson and Marie-Élisabeth Clausels. He married Leidia van de Zee before tying the knot with Marie-Madeleine van der Mersch.

He graduated from Lycée Lakanal.

Regarded as one of the best in his time, Bresson was honored with many awards including the Venice Film Festival’s Career Golden Lion Award and the OCIC Award by the Cannes Film Festival.
