Ronee Blakley was very popular in both the music and film industries during the 1970s. The American entertainer came into the limelight as a musician and, in 1972, she dropped her eponymous maiden album with the help of Elektra Records. Her second album was issued three years later which was named “Welcome”.
Acting Career
Despite recording some amount of success as a singer, Blakley is best known for her roles in films and television series. She became an international icon with her Barbara Jean role in the 1975 film “Nashville”, which was directed by Robert Altman.
She also starred alongside British actress Anne Heywood, and John Lafayette in the film “Good Luck, Miss Wyckoff” which was released in 1975.
Family
The actress spent her early years with her parents Carol Brown and Ronald Blakley, who worked as an engineer. She has three siblings named Marthetta, Stephen, and John. Her marriage to German filmmaker Wim Wenders ended in 1981. They have a child called Sarah Blakley-Cartwright.

She has attended some renowned institutions like Stanford University, Juilliard School, and Mills College.
Accolades
Her role in the film “Nashville” earned her National Board of Review Award’s “Best Supporting Actress” prize. For the same role, she was shortlisted for an Oscar.
