Ryan O'Neal was an American actor who initially began as an amateur boxer before venturing into the film industry in the early 1960s. He was catapulted into the spotlight for portraying the character Rodney Harrington on the popular soap opera Peyton Place from 1964 to 1969. He gained more success starring in films such as 1970's Love Story and 1973's Paper Moon, for which he received a Golden Globe Award nomination.

He was born to actress Patricia Olga and novelist Charles O'Neal. His first marriage was to actress Joanna Moore, from 1963 to 1967. The marriage produced 2 children. From 1967 to 1973, he was married to his second wife actress Leigh Taylor-Young. The marriage produced a child. He had his fourth child with actress Farrah Fawcett.
