Career
Telma started her career as a backup singer. She worked with notable musicians like Marvin Gaye and Isaac Hayes. She later teamed up with Joyce Vincent Wilson in 1971 and started the vocal group known as “Dawn”. In the 1970’s, they released about forty singles with some becoming household favorites and chart specials.
She started acting in 1979 when she featured in “Roots: The Next Generations” and went on to become famous in the movie industry. She was cast as Gail Desautel in the 1982 film “The Kid with the Broken Halo”, Teresa in “How to Murder a Millionaire”, Officer Rhoda in “Women of the House” and Denise Tolliver in “The Young and the Restless”. She featured in the series “A New Kind of Family” which received an Emmy nomination.
