His diverse talents, which include stand-up comedy, acting and a broad spectrum of musical accomplishments, have earned him a status as a standout performer in America’s entertainment industry.
Background & Early Life
The performer was born in Greenville, Mississippi. At 18 months, he was abandoned in the trash before being rescued by his foster mother. After legally adopting him, his foster parents later changed his name from Anthony Reed to Thomas Davidson.
He attended Sligo Middle School and Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School. The comedian is an alumnus of the University of the District of Columbia.
Comedy Career Highlights
His career as a stand-up comedian began in Washington DC in 1986. He then continued to perform at comedy clubs in Philadelphia and Baltimore. He later opened concerts for the likes of Kenny G, Star point and Patti LaBelle.
In 1987, he won an amateur stand-up contest at the Apollo Theater. Later, he relocated to Hollywood, where he performed at the Comedy Act Theatre and ran several comedy specials, including an “HBO” special.
Acting Career
In 1991, he made an impressive movie debut when he starred in “Strictly Business.” He has acted in over 50 TV and film projects, notably “Black Dynamite”, “Booty Call” and “The Proud Family”.
