About Tzipi Livni

Described as one of the most powerful Israeli women in history, Tzipi Livni started as a member of the Israel Defense Forces. In 1980, at the age of 22 years, she served in the Mossad and participated in the “Operation Wrath of God”.

After obtaining her law degree in 1984, she started working as a lawyer focusing on areas like public, real estate, and commercial law. After 12 years of practice, she turned her attention to politics as a member of the Likud party.

In 1996, then Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appointed her as the head of the state-owned companies. Three years later, she entered the Knesset. Since then, she has served in different political positions including Minister of Justice, Vice Prime Minister, and Foreign Minister of Israel.

Aside from Likud, Livni has worked with other popular parties in the country such as Kadima, and Hatnuah. Between 2009 and 2012, she served as the Leader of the Opposition. Her role in resolving the conflict between Israel and Palestine has made her one of the admired political figures in the world.

Family

Her father, Eitan Livni, was also a politician. She also spent her early years with her mum called Sara Rosenberg. She has been married to Naftali Spitzer, an advertising executive. The couple are blessed with two kids called Yuval and Omri.

Education

She studied law at Bar-Ilan University.

Honors

The International Women's Forum honored her with the International Hall of Fame Award in 2009. Nine years later, she received the Golden Arrow Award.

Forbes named her in their “100 Most Powerful Women” list for three consecutive years, starting from 2006.
