The former Steelers running back grew up in Clinton, North Carolina. He attended North Carolina University, where he started his football journey. After college, he was signed by the Pittsburg Steelers in 2004 and this was when his professional career began to flourish.

He is a 2-time Super Bowl champion (2005 and 2008) with the Pittsburg Steelers and an EPSY award winning athlete.
He broke a record in 2006 for longest rushing touchdown in Super Bowl history with a 75-yard touchdown run, which earned him the nickname, “Fast Willie”. This record was still unbroken by 2022.
The record-setting running back played briefly for the Washington Redskins and the Virginia Destroyers before he retired.
The NFL star retired at age 31 and took up a coaching job. In 2012, he was appointed assistant coach of the West Virginia Wesleyan College football team.
