About Yongzheng Emperor
Yongzheng Emperor was the Emperor of the Qing dynasty from 1722 to 1735. He succeeded the Kangxi Emperor, who was his father. He adopted the latter’s method of employing military force to protect the position of the dynasty. He was the third emperor of the dynasty who also doubled as the ruler of China proper.
In spite of reigning for a shorter period than the Kangxi Emperor and his successor the Qianlong Emperor, he garnered a reputation for clamping down on corruption and for reforming financial and personnel administration.
Family Life
His mother, Xuanye was a consort who was bestowed with the posthumous name, Emperor Xiaogongen. He was married to Empress Xiaojingxian. His son, Hongli became his successor, Qianlong Emperor.
Death
He died suddenly on October 8, 1735 from what is suspected to be elixir poisoning.
