About Yusuf al-Qaradawi
Yusuf al-Qaradawi remains a controversial figure in the Western world for his social and political views on subjects such as extremism, anti-Semitism, homosexuality and terrorism. The Egyptian scholar garnered acclaim for his influence on Islamic scholarship especially through his publication of over 120 books. Based in Qatar, he was recognized best as the host of the religious program, “Sharia and Life” on Al Jazeera. One of his best-known books is “The Lawful and the Prohibited in Islam”.
Family Life
He was brought up by his uncle after the death of his father when he was just two years old. He had seven children including nuclear scientist Ilham Yusuf Al-Qaradawi and poet Abdulrahman Yusuf al-Qaradawi.
Achievements
His awards included the IDB Prize in Islamic Economics and the Dubai International Holy Quran Award.
