Aaron Montgomery Ward developed a new way of selling general products to customers in the rural areas by introducing the mail order service.
The American, who was also into the sale of dry merchandizes realized the rural folks at the American Midwest were not fairly treated in terms of retailing services, hence his decision to go for the mail order.
He would be remembered for creating the Montgomery Ward & Company in 1872. His association with the Patrons of Husbandry helped his company to become a success. His innovation paved the way for other investors to flourish including Richard Warren Sears.
