About Adolph Green
Adolph Green would be remembered for his works with Metro Goldwyn Mayer. The American lyricist was very famous in the 1940s and 1950s. He came into the entertainment industry in 1938 after he co-founded the group named ‘The Revuers’.
He shot to fame in 1944 when he contributed to the lyrics of the musical titled “On the Town”. Throughout his career, he worked on many films and stage productions. He contributed to Broadway’s “On the Twentieth Century” which premiered in 1978. He also wrote the 1953 film “The Band Wagon”.
Family
He was the third child of Daniel Green and Helen Weiss, and was raised alongside two brothers. After divorcing Elizabeth Reitell, he married renowned entertainer Allyn Ann McLerie in 1945. The couple divorced in 1953, and seven years later he married Phyllis Newman. They had two children named Amanda and Adam Green.

He was a product of New York University.
Awards
He was the recipient of many laurels such as the Tony Award, New York Drama Critics' Circle Award, and the WGA Award. The filmmaker was also shortlisted for numerous awards including the Academy Awards, and the Grammy Award.
Trivia
Green was cast as Leo Silver in the 1982 film “My Favorite Year”.
He formed a great partnership with fellow lyricist Betty Comden.
