About Antonio Aguilar
Antonio Aguila was a Mexican actor and musician who had a career span of about five decades. During his career, he composed over 150 albums and performed in over 160 movies. He sold a staggering 24 million copies in his lifetime.
Family Life
He first tied the knot with actress Flor Silvestre and they had two sons. He later married Otilia Larrinaga.
Career
He began securing major roles in the early 1950s. Some of the films he appeared in were: “La sierra del terror”, “La pantera negra” and “Los muertos no hablan”.
He was cast in the 1969 Western movie “The Undefeated” featuring American actor John Wayne.
After performing in several films, he became recognized as a film star in a series of seven films in the mid-1950s.
Achievements
Aguila became the first Mexican performer to mix rodeos and concerts.
In 2000, he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
In 2004, he received the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Death
He died from pneumonia on June 19, 2007, aged 88.
