American actress Barbara Hale started her Hollywood career in 1943 with an uncredited appearance in the comedy film, “Gildersleeve’s Bad Day”. Later on within the decade, she garnered widespread attention through leading roles in films such as “Jolson Sings Again” and “Lady Luck”. She is remembered best for her portrayal of Della Street in the legal drama series, “Perry Mason” from 1957 to 1966 and in 30 television movies based on the series.
Family Life
She was one of the two daughters of landscape gardener Luther Ezra Hale and his wife, Wilma. She was married to fellow actor Bill Williams from 1946 until the latter’s death in 1992. They were the parents of actor William Katt and had two daughters named Juanita and Jodi as well.
Achievements
She was the recipient of a 1959 Primetime Emmy Award, a 2001 Golden Boot Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Death
She died from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease complications.
